See, this is the thing I love about Paperman. It ends here. it doesn’t go on to say “And then they dated, got married, and lived happily ever after,” it leaves the ending ambiguous. Undeniably happy, but ambiguous. It could be they pursue a romantic relationship, or it could be that their relationship remains a friendship. And both outcomes are considered equally good. It presents that it’s not the nature of the relationship that makes an ending happy, it’s the existence and pursual of a relationship. It’s beautiful and unique and we need more like it.
